What a countertop project includes with Interstate

The heart of your home deserves a surface that works as hard as you do. Whether you picture elegant granite, low-maintenance quartz, or a warm butcher block island, we help you compare real samples in our showroom, then template, fabricate, and install the counters ourselves.

Countertops stand on their own as a project, and they are also the finishing touch on a kitchen remodel, a bathroom vanity, or a cabinet refacing job. However you get there, one team handles the measuring, the stone, and the plumbing.

Our countertop process from slab to sink

A countertop replacement is a short project with a lot of decisions. We walk you through each one and handle the measuring so the install is a single, clean day.

  1. Consultation

Meet a designer at our showroom or in your home. We talk about how you use the space, what you want it to look like, and a budget range.

  2. Selection

Compare materials, colors, and edge profiles side by side, and choose the sink and faucet to go with them.

  3. Template

We measure and template your cabinets, plan seams and cut-outs, and confirm the itemized price and schedule in writing.

  4. Install

Old counters come out and the new ones go in, usually in a day, with plumbing reconnected and backsplash scheduled right behind.

Common questions about custom countertops

Straight answers to what homeowners ask us most. More questions are answered on our FAQ page.

Granite or quartz: which should I choose?
Granite is natural stone, heat-resistant, and every slab is one of a kind; it needs periodic sealing. Quartz is engineered from natural quartz and resin, non-porous, low-maintenance, and available in consistent colors and patterns. Both are excellent kitchen surfaces. We will show you slabs of each so you can decide by eye and by budget.
What other countertop materials do you offer?
Beyond granite and quartz we install solid surface, butcher block, porcelain, Dekton, soapstone, marble, and laminate. Each has trade-offs in durability, maintenance, and price, and we will be honest about which fits how you cook.
Can I replace just the countertops?
Yes. Countertops are a stand-alone project and one of the fastest ways to update a kitchen or bath. Many clients pair them with cabinet refacing for a full new look without a remodel.
How do I care for stone countertops?
Wipe up spills, use mild soap and water, avoid harsh cleaners, and use cutting boards and trivets. Granite and marble benefit from resealing every year or two; quartz needs no sealing.

Jim and his entire crew not only did a great job but in a timely manner, and during the entire process maintained a friendly professional manner. They showed respect for my home by working carefully and cleaning up after themselves, leaving me little to do but enjoy my new kitchen.
