About Interstate who you are hiring
- Who is Interstate Custom Kitchen & Bath?
- We are a family-owned kitchen and bath design center and remodeling company at 558 Chicopee St in Chicopee, Massachusetts. Jim and Darlene Yiznitsky founded the company in 1986, and their son Joe and his wife Sheena run it today. Read more about the family.
- What areas do you serve?
- Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut, within about an hour of our Chicopee showroom. We work regularly in Springfield, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Westfield, Agawam, Ludlow, Holyoke, South Hadley, and Suffield and Enfield in Connecticut. - Are you licensed and insured?
- Yes. We are licensed and insured in both Massachusetts and Connecticut, and our owner holds a Contractor Supervisor’s License. We are members of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, carry an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, and our owner is president of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Western Mass.
- Can I visit the showroom?
- Please do. The design center is open Monday through Saturday, 9:30am to 4:00pm, and closed Sunday. Call ahead at (413) 532-2727 so a designer is free when you arrive. Directions and hours are on the contact page.
- Do you do the work yourselves or subcontract it?
- Our own carpenters do the cabinetry and installation work. Plumbing and electrical are handled by licensed trade partners we have worked with for years. Either way, one project manager from our office runs the job and is your point of contact from start to finish.
How a project works from first call to final walkthrough
- How do I get started?
- Call us, stop by the showroom, or send us your project details. We will set up a consultation, measure the room, talk through what you want to change, and show you what is possible. There is no charge and no obligation for that first conversation.
- What happens at the in-home consultation?
- A designer measures the existing space, looks at how the room is built and where the plumbing and electrical run, listens to what you want, and explains the options. For refacing, we also confirm your cabinet boxes are a good candidate. You come out of it knowing what the project involves and roughly what it costs.
- Do you provide drawings?
- Yes. We draw the new layout and elevations so you can see the kitchen or bath before anything is ordered, and we adjust the drawings with you until they match what you have in mind. Kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling both include design work.
- Will my house be a construction site for weeks?
- We scope the entire project before we start, order the materials up front, and schedule the trades so the work runs in order without long gaps. Our crews clean the site at the end of each day. Cabinet refacing in particular keeps the disruption short because there is no demolition.
- What if something is wrong after the job is finished?
- Call us. We are ten minutes from most of the homes we work in, the same family has been at this address since 1986, and we would rather fix something than have you live with it. That is what "Customers First. Friends For Life." means in practice. Our reviews say more about that than we can.
Cost and timeline the two questions everyone has
- How much does a kitchen or bathroom remodel cost?
- It depends on the size of the room, the cabinetry line, the countertop material, and how much moves. That is why we measure and price your specific project rather than quote a number over the phone. The estimate you get from us is itemized, so you can see what each piece costs and adjust before you commit. Request a free quote and we will put real numbers in front of you.
- Is the quote really free?
- Yes. The consultation and the written estimate are free, with no obligation to go ahead.
- How long does a project take?
- Cabinet refacing is typically three to five days on site once the materials arrive. A full kitchen or bathroom remodel runs longer and depends on scope. Custom cabinetry and doors take a few weeks to build after you approve the order, and those are weeks you spend in a normal kitchen. - Can I save money by refacing instead of replacing?
- Usually, yes, if the cabinet boxes are solid and the layout already works. Refacing keeps the boxes, countertops, backsplash, and floor in place and replaces the doors, drawer fronts, exposed surfaces, and hardware, so it avoids the places where most remodel cost hides. - Do you offer financing?
- Ask us during your consultation and we will tell you what is available at the time. Payment terms for the work itself are set out in the project agreement before we start.

- What is cabinet refacing, exactly?
- Refacing keeps your existing cabinet boxes and layout and replaces everything you see: new doors, new drawer fronts, new drawer boxes, new moldings, and all new hardware. - What cabinet and countertop brands do you carry?
- Cabinetry from Holiday Kitchens, Dura Supreme, and North Point. Countertops in granite, Cambria, Silestone, Caesarstone, Q-Quartz, Spectrum Quartz, HanStone, and Dekton. Tile from Daltile, Merola, Mohawk, and Schluter; vanities from Bertch and Woodpro; hardware from Top Knobs, Jeffrey Alexander, Hafele, and Richelieu; plumbing fixtures from Delta, Brizo, Kohler, Toto, and more. - Do you install countertops on their own?
- Yes. Countertops are often the fastest single upgrade a kitchen can get, and we template, fabricate, and install them as a standalone project or as part of a larger remodel. Read about custom countertops.
- Can you make a bathroom easier to get in and out of?
- Yes. We build barrier-free and curbless showers, add grab bars and benches, widen doorways where the framing allows, and choose fixtures and vanity heights that suit how you actually move. See our bathroom work or read about bathroom remodeling.
