What cabinet refacing includes with Interstate

Refacing is a great way to refresh your existing kitchen and give it a brand new look without extensive demolition and lengthy construction time. You keep the quality bones of your cabinetry and most of the layout, and you only pay for what you see.

Because the countertops, backsplash, and floor can all stay, refacing avoids the places where most remodel cost hides. If you want new custom countertops anyway, we template and install them in the same project. And if the layout itself is the problem, we'll tell you honestly that a full kitchen remodel is the better path.

Our cabinet refacing process five steps, most of them in your kitchen

Refacing is priced and planned in your home, so the first appointment already tells you whether your kitchen is a candidate and what it will cost.

  1. In-home consultation

A designer measures your existing kitchen, confirms it is a good candidate for refacing, explains how it works, suggests upgrades, and prices the project on the spot.

  2. Shopping appointment

One visit with our design team to choose the door style, wood, finish, hardware, and any accessories for the new look.

  3. Final measure

The designer and project manager return to take detailed measurements, plan access and storage, and note anything special about the installation.

  4. Installation

Your kitchen is refaced on the timeframe in your project agreement. Our installers work from detailed notes, so you are not pestered with questions along the way.

Common questions about cabinet refacing

Straight answers to what homeowners ask us most. More questions are answered on our FAQ page.

What is cabinet refacing?
Cabinet refacing keeps your existing cabinet boxes and layout and replaces what you see: new doors, new drawer fronts, new drawer boxes, new moldings, and all new hardware. Every exposed surface of the old boxes is covered in quarter-inch oak, maple, cherry, or hickory, stained or painted to match.
Refacing or replacing: how do I choose?
If your cabinet boxes are solid and you like where things are, refacing gives you a new-looking kitchen with far less demolition, time, and cost, and you can keep your countertops, backsplash, and floor. If the layout does not work or the boxes are failing, a full kitchen remodel is the better investment. Our in-home consultation tells you which one fits.
Can I keep my countertops?
Yes. Refacing leaves countertops, backsplash, and flooring in place. Many clients choose to add new custom countertops at the same time, but it is an option, not a requirement.
How long does refacing take?
Refacing is much faster than a full remodel because there is no demolition or rough construction. The timeframe for your kitchen is written into the project agreement before we start.
